Exploring emerging technologies for visual storytelling

Test case: Convert plain video to gaussian splat

Is it possible to successfully convert a video of a drone test flight into a gaussian splat and implement it in a website? Let's find out.
The video
We made a test flight with a DJI mini pro 3 to demonstrate its capabilities and camera in the beautiful Bosland domain in Belgian Limburg. The video consists of random angles and speeds.
Result
The overall result is quite satisfactory. However, you can clearly see which parts were underexposed and where moving objects or people were present. But so it does appear to be possible to more or less map an entire area from a raw video.

Toggle between path and free view.

By making the content invisible, you can easily switch from a predetermined path to a free view within the gaussian splat.
